We’ve said before that one of our favorite things about photography is getting to see our clients grow, from children becoming teens to families adding new members and even to couples tying the knot. Sometimes, we’re lucky enough to work with people we went to school with, like in the case of today’s couple: Jennifer and Kyle! I went to high school with Kyle. If you told 16-year-old Jo that she’d be taking photos of Kyle to celebrate his engagement, I don’t think she would have believed you.
Now that I’m older, I’m glad I had the chance to. Jennifer and Kyle were amazing! They decided on having their engagement shoot in the middle of Downtown Phoenix, at Heritage Square. When you think of Downtown Phoenix, you might imagine the tall buildings and sports arenas, but Heritage Square is a special spot right next to the Arizona Science Center. There’s plenty of greenery, and the buildings are all Victorian-style, which looks really unique on camera.
A lot of people from Arizona are pretty familiar with it, so it was an easy suggestion for Kyle and Jennifer to make. Since I’ve known Kyle for so long, our shoot was a lot like hanging out with a friend. Adding Jennifer to the mix made things even better because they’re so clearly in love. Jennifer and Kyle have been together for years, which gives them a feeling of comfort together that made my and Alli’s hearts melt.
Plus, Jennifer and Kyle both wore outfits that had the perfect color palates for shooting at Heritage Square!
They’re so easygoing that snapping pictures was a breeze. They’re ridiculously excited to tie the knot, and I think that really comes through in the shots we got. Jennifer and Kyle’s years together have brought them even closer together than ever before, and that made us all the more excited to see them finally tie the knot.
So if you’re reading this with a drink — even just water — raise a glass to Jennifer and Kyle!
Congrats, you two! We’ll see you soon for your wedding… we can’t wait!
