Desert Botanical Garden Wedding – Amy and Rob

From Denver to Arizona and everywhere in between, Amy and Rob have a romance that’s stayed strong. Having the chance to shoot their wedding was a true treat!

Amy and her bridal party got ready at the Cambria Hotel on Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row. The swanky, modern space was perfect for their wedding party. While she and her bridesmaids shared some tasty snacks and a champagne toast in their hotel room, Rob and his buddies took off to the rooftop bar to share beverages. The bar has gorgeous views of Phoenix and the surrounding areas–north, south, east, and west. We think it’s symbolic of how far Amy and Rob’s love will go: it’s infinite. Their beautiful future together stretched over the horizon of the Arizona desert, which is poetry at its best.

Of course, even the most infinite of loves still has things to do. Even with all the fun of swapping stories of how everyone met, what keeps them in each others’ lives, and why they love Amy and Rob, it soon came time to get the final touches done. Ties tied, perfume misted, and dress cinched, the ceremony came faster than we all realized. Jo and I took a moment to appreciate Amy’s gown, a high-low sheer with blooming flower details placed neatly on every inch of touchable fabric. We couldn’t wait to see Rob’s reaction during the first look. The ladies grabbed their matching pink Kate Spade purses that Amy had gifted them to match her own, and Rob’s groomsmen did their last once-overs before hopping into black-out SUVs to get to the venue. (After all, you have to get to your wedding in style!)

When Rob got his first peek at Amy, his face said it all. His jaw literally dropped. We’ve said it before, but you could really see in that moment that the world narrowed down to be just the two of them under the canopy of trees, everything quieting as they stood in awe of one another. There’s nothing like that silent shock a couple gets when they have their first look: it’s both electric and heart-stopping, something that drives home that two are about to become one. Amy and Rob will always be two truly distinct individuals, but the instant when it hits that their lives will be joined in matrimony is simply divine.

During these trying times, it was heartwarming to see how many loved ones joined Amy and Rob in the Desert Botanical Garden to watch them join ‘til death do them part. Even with the scares that have defined 2020 in mind, you could tell that everyone wanted to be there and support Amy and Rob, to show how much they love them and want nothing but happiness for them.

The garden ceremony was beautiful. With an circular archway adorned in lush flowers and a sprawling garden surrounding the wedding with natural magic, it was like standing on a mystical island in the middle of the dry desert. Amy and Rob held back happy tears as they said their vows and began to exchange rings, the sun setting behind them and sending slivers of golden light through the branches. Amy and Rob sealed the deal with a kiss amid the sunset rays.

And then?

It was cocktail hour. The drinks flowed while the guests mingled, noshing on delicious meats and cheeses among a verdant backdrop. Amy and Rob mingled with everyone, sharing laughter that felt like hugs straight to the heart. Dinner was every bit as gorgeous. String lights made the garden into a scene straight out of a romance movie, tranquil music from the Shining Star Band adding to the atmosphere and creating a sense of peace for the setting as everyone enjoyed amazing food under the stars and moon. The reception was uniquely Amy and Rob.

They joined, of course, for their first dance. Amy and Rob were straight-up picturesque as they danced the night away, only parting for father-daughter and mother-son dances. (Those always hit us in the feels as moms. We can’t wait to dance with our children at their weddings someday, to get a chance to see them as happy as Amy and Rob were.)

And that’s what the night was filled with: dancing. The parental dances gave way to all-night boogieing with Amy and Rob and their loved ones under the night sky. Without a formal exit, the infinity of Amy and Rob’s love really was obvious. These two have amazing times ahead of them. We can’t wait.

We love you, Amy and Rob! We can’t wait to see what life brings. Congratulations!

Love,

Jo + Alli
