Gainey Ranch Wedding – Maeve and Joe

Even in the middle of something as scary as the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to make sure we find joy. That’s why Maeve and Joe decided to forge ahead on their path together. After all, what’s more joyful than a wedding?

With everything going on, Maeve and Joe wanted to make things as safe as possible for their loved ones, trimming the wedding until it was a particularly intimate affair. Surrounded by their closest loved ones, it didn’t matter what else was going on in the world: the day was about Maeve and Joe, about bringing together their lives to become something new.

That makes it sound serious, though. Sure, weddings are serious–you’re pledging your life to someone, ’til death do you part. At the same time, they’re joyous occasions, meant to be celebrated with love and with laughter.

So that’s exactly what happened. Joe’s brother poked fun at him in his speech, reminiscing on times where the siblings would compete and he’d win, even though Joe’s the older brother. This time, though, Joe won something precious: Maeve’s presence, for the rest of their lives!

It wasn’t just Joe’s brother, though. Maeve’s father got in on the laughter, recalling exactly how it was that Joe asked permission to marry Maeve, which was a mix of modern communication and that age-old classic, The Parent Trap.

You see, Joe had said to Maeve’s father: “I want to ask you for your daughter’s hand in marriage.”

Maeve’s father knew that he had to make Joe sweat just a little. It’s just what you do as a father. So he didn’t respond.

He let it sit.

And then finally, when Maeve’s father did respond?

“Which daughter?”

It wasn’t just a silly joke about having multiple daughters. This is where The Parent Trap comes in: Maeve is a triplet! Though Lindsay Lohan’s characters didn’t know they were related, Maeve of course knew she has two sisters. Her father couldn’t resist, though!

Joe was a good sport about it, naturally. Without that, we wouldn’t have anything to write about here! Instead, we got to see a lovely wedding, with a heartfelt celebration of a romance that’s strong and true.

And that’s about all you can ask for.

Congratulations, Maeve and Joe!

Love,

Jo + Alli
